Abstract
The paper proposes a QR-code–based, end-to-end digital prescription and pharmacy fulfillment system that replaces traditional paper prescriptions and manual medicine purchase workflows. A QR code encodes all key prescription details issued by a doctor—patient identity, visit metadata, prescribed medicines and dosages—while a web and mobile platform connects doctors, patients, and pharmacies. By digitising prescriptions, the system aims to provide patients with complete information about their medications, reduce the risk of fake or tampered prescriptions, and eliminate the inconvenience of physically carrying and uploading prescription images for online orders.
The proposed architecture introduces an integrated web app for doctors and pharmacists and a mobile app for patients, built on a modern full-stack stack (React, Node.js/Express, MongoDB, Redis, Firebase Auth) and deployed as containerised, cloud-hosted, serverless services. Automated doctor and pharmacy verification, Aadhaar-based patient identification, QR-based prescription validation, and options for in-store pickup or home delivery are combined to streamline the pharmacy supply chain, reduce patient effort, and support more secure and efficient medication management.
